A day after our first of two snowstorms, I sat out in the backyard and observed and photographed my yard birds since it's not often I get nice contrast like this... especially with the ground feeding birds. Thanks for looking! -Mike U
#3 is the prize here. It's got a leg up on the rest! Seriously it is a great shot with some action, colour, great eye focus, and the lovely BG. Beauty. Don

A great display of great exposures and love those Meadowlarks!

Thanks Karl! It's easy to blow those whites out, yet at the same time underexpose because of all the white. I was checking the blinkies for highlights often on the D7000

It's funny, because initially it wasn't my favorite.. but after I processed it and got the crop the way I wanted it.. it ended up being my favorite of the bunch, too. I think I'll be adding that one to the MikeUmscheidPhotography.com gallery. I appreciate the response, Don!

Geez you have got the exposure bang on perfect..!! The whites kill me, I never get them right
codroy, thanks! I've struggled with the difficult whites for a long, long time. It takes a lot of practice out in the field to get them right.. and every angle is different.. It's a delicate balance, indeed. -Mike

Very nice job on these, Mike. Lovely setting in the Meadowlark series and detail look fine. 2, 5 and 7 are on top of my favorites
