This is Nell. She is a ballerina in training. We had a really fun and cold shoot last month in Boise. I think it was 38 degrees. It took a few trips to the car heater for her to get warmed up, but she was a trooper and we ended up with some good shots.
All natural light.
I think this is probably my favorite ballerina shoot by you, Miker! Nice job. I love how the red dress plays off the environment. I love your use of the steps in 2 and 7, but No. 5 doesn't work as well for me, it's like the lines of the steps are in competition for attention with the lines of her legs. I would love to see that same shot/pose in an open area. My faves here are 2 and 4. Great job!!!
My faves are the forced arch and headshot (5 and 6). I know you said she's a ballerina in training, so maybe she needs the support of her hand to get to the finished poses in 1, 3, and 7. But to me, I'd rather see her hand off the wall or rails. Otherwise, nice shots, especially in the cold.
Miker, great series I forwarded this on to my granddaughter Nina whose my ballerina!!
She got back to me right away, saying WHEN. Thanks for the inspiration
Bob
Appreciate everyone's comment.
Not sure if she needed the hand holds for support or not. I know she did on the steps shot, not sure that shot is doable without something to support the move.
I have seen other versions of that shot but in each case the dancer was supported somehow.
Agree I find the grace and power of dancers inspiring as well.
Yes her red dress worked out really well with the fall color.
