Decided to give JPEG a try on this badboy (JPEG + RAW)...super impressed so far. These are SOOC from around the airport.
Also, was trying out spot metering on those for the first time and I love it. Combined with the EVF (which previews exposure) it works beautifully. I'm not sure I'll shoot any other way ever again.
Other than a fixed focal length, what is the downfall of the X100s? I am at a crossroads with my camera kit and am wondering very much about this camera. I tried out an X100 for an afternoon and enjoyed it.
Some say the X-trans sensor is a downfall (I don’t agree though). We may all have different opinions and have them backed up by the tech data but no camera is ideal. I’m a happy Canon 5dm2 and Sigma DP3 owner but x100s is a very special thing - I just can’t leave home without it; it’s the “joy of photography” materialized, the fact easily overweighting any downfalls.
It’s an image thread, so here goes another pic. From a recent trip to Thailand.
How could this country be on the brink of a civil war is beyond me...
Ihaven't had mine more then a couple of weeks and I love it. Ioved it from the first time I picked it out of the box and I just like it more by the minute! I don't really see any important downfalls, there will always be some of course but for me it feels perfect so far. It gives me the same joy to shoot with as my analog 70's and 80's cameras. The important stuff (shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and ISO) are all very easy to reach, as is AF point selection. It feels like shooting with a camera rather then a computer.
The advanced filters are actually quite cool, I haven't used them much and as it is now it will probably be some time before I can try it as my X100s just went legs up when I updated to firmware 1.10 which leads me to a question and a warning.
I did the update from 1.03 to 1.10 today, I followed Fujifilms video instructions and all went well. The camera said "update complete, please turn off camera" and I did. But now it won't start. There is not the slightest little hint of life in it. I've tried different batteries, different SD cards, no cards, leaving the battery out for 30 minutes etc but it is stone freaking dead and I am slightly depressed :-/
