Got to shoot with this camera this weekend. Honestly it surprised me. The IQ definitely punches right at it's price point. Took me longer than I thought to figure out how to use it though. Viewed them on his computer when we got back but hoping he'll send a couple my way.
A few photos from a recent hike. This was my 1st time using this new camera. I forgot to shoot RAW so all are just straight JPEGs. I like the camera so far. I definitely learned a lot and still have some way to go to get better with it since it is very different from my 5d2.
I'm still trying to learn the camera, my main issue is how it compares with Ricoh GR (i have both) and honestly i love them both. I dont know which one to sell , i feel like Ricoh is more responsive and snapfocus is just incredible, but fuji feels more wholesome. Gah!
^ Those are fantastic. I've literally just acquired an X100 as a compact / social occasions cam and am blown away by it to be honest. Coming from FF DSLRs, its so much more inconspicuous...
Will post pics soon.
As for choosing one over a Ricoh GR, that must be a tough decision.
Well... I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a X100s "hoping" it would give some of the feeling in my Nikon FM2 and F3 and Olympus OM 1/2. Lately I've been kind of tired and pissed of at the Olympus Em-5, it has just felt as if I was shooting a computer with a lens on it and it's also felt a little too cramped.
The moment I picked the X100s out of the box it felt great. The minute I put a battery in it and started testing I knew it was the camera, are more, I was hoping for. It feels like it won't be in the way, every button feels as if though it is placed where I want it, AF points are easy to select as is ISO, size is terrific. I was looking for a camera that was really aimed at the three essentials of photo-making (Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO).
Now I just need to get my vision sorted and start to really "see" and learn more. I have a feeling it might actually help me become a better photographer.
I've only had time to try it out today and only during the dark hours so nothing lower then ISO 6400 but here comes one of the first. There is a storm raging here in the south of sweden at the moment and this tree came down about 100 meters from my apartment.
Brought the camera out in the storm today. While it has settled just a wee bit it's still quite strong. I've rarely or never seen the sea here in this state, it's very rough and quite amazing. There really isn't a very long way for the seas to build (Denmark is very close to Sweden at this particular place) and yet the waves reached over 2 meters. Waters levels are about a meter above normal at the moment as well.
This shot is very heavily cropped. I didn't wanna get any closer due to the new camera, it was already getting some serious salt water spray on it and I was sitting about 6 meters from where the waves crashed over the wall. Not a great picture, it could have been I think, had I been about 10 meters closer.
This guy was out there taking photos with his ipad. While checking what he captured he gives a perfect example of "missing the action while checking your shots".
