p.1 #1 · Getting names while photographing events

I am going to be shooting a charity concert and silent auction tomorrow night for a local newspaper. I usually just carry a notepad around and get names of the people I shoot in chronological order but was wondering if there was better way, maybe an app? How do the rest of you do this?

What camera are you using? In the past, I've used the D3's audio button to have subjects say and spell their name directly onto the file.

5DIII and 1DX. I know I can do audio on 1DX but haven't looked at that with 5DIII.

I would think an app would be a hassle unless you're just using a simple voice recorder to record name with image number. Just my $0.02

I keep things simple.Doing events every week I Use a notepad and write the name and image number of the last image they were in. I always take 2-3 so knowing the name is with the last image number makes processing fast. I have seen people record with a smartphone but then you need the person to spell out the name.
