Just called Amex to let them know what's going on too. They helped me with a seller on amazon who'd tried to charge me a 30% restocking fee on a faucet. That was another nightmare.
He's in Canada and he did ship through Canada post/USPS. I can talk to the post office Tuesday.
He also shipped it with no rear lens cap and the rear element is filthy.
He is pissed that I don't want to take it as it is and just go shoot with it. He said he thought he was selling it to a "seller" not a "collector".
I was thinking I'd see the replies I've gotten here from you guys which is reassuring.
I'll definitely keep you guys up to date with any developments.

Holy Crap, Dennis....what a beater! I'd jump on a plane, rip off his head...
and yell down the hole What a prick. Hope you get this resolved to your
satisfaction. Guy needs his salad tossed in a max security prison.

Yup...I only had to check OP recent posting history.
It's pretty sad and to get upset with the OP for complaining.. that is is completely out of order. He needs to take a good long look in the mirror, as well as offer an apology and full refund.

I doubt a "good long look in the mirror" and "apology" fit a scammer profile.

I PM'd Fred on the 14th but he hasn't opened the PM yet. He could be busy. I'm sure once he reads it he'll do something about it.

IIRC the fella in question is well versed in martial arts... might need a posse Failing that I (optimistically) hope he sees the error of his ways without to much further hassle for the OP.

At any rate, I think this is an extreme case of misrepresentation, and IMO it merits the qualification of a substantial fraud. We do not need to gather a lynch mob here, since Fred has dealt with a few similar cases like this before, and he knows how to fast-track the processing of an offender.
If not with Paypal, I hope Dennis is successful in getting the backing of his cc company for the full refund of his money paid.

Peter, last year a few of us got duped and Fred managed it near instantly, Paypal did much the same, in less then a week my account was refunded. This was a 580 flash, lets hope all monies are refunded to the OP ASAP.
