I recently traveled to Vandenberg Air Force Base in California for the first time to cover the launch of a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket for SpaceflightNow.com. The rocket was carrying NASA's Landsat Data Continuity Mission.

Here are a few of my favorite photos of the launch activities.

#1 A ground squirrel emerges from its hole to check out the rocket.

Awesome! Nice work. I love the foreground on no.2, and no.3 has a great vantage point.

These are great! Tough call but #2 edges out the others, I really like how the foreground complements the motion of the launch and the form of the rocket - wow!
