We did this photoshoot late last year. Truth be told it took me awhile to decide on sharing this set of images out partly because of the tragic event in Sandy Hook Elementary late last year. It shook us up quite a bit. Children are just so precious. Each year my wife and I look forward to photographing some school kids.
Children photography is a small part in our folio works. But they always leave such a large incredible experience. Here's a multi-day photoshoot project for "I Want to Be".
We started outdoors to capture the Fall leaves. But part ways through it started to rain. So we seconded this concrete basement area. OCF here and there.
The concrete basement was actually quite dark. The only natural light came from a 6" opening above. Two flashes were used. I used a speed grid a coupla shots just to mix it up a bit.

@Steve & psknapp: Thanks. We try to inject some creativity and style to our school photos.
@David: Hahaha... I didn't notice that. My wife sets up the board. I think the "roles" were written verbatim. I also thought it was rather cute that Logan was holding Thomas the Train.
Thanks very much Goodegg, DRosdahl, Lisa & bbourizk.
The parents do like 'em. One of them told me that they are now spoiled for school photos.
Anyways, I've been receiving a few pings on the Speed Grid OCF. Instead of responding to individuals, I am posting a simple sketch of the flash set-ups. Picture is worth a thousand words. Please forgive my terrible drawing.
The flash with the speed grid is mounted high. It's not aimed directly at the subject. I want the light to kinda fall pass the subject.
