It would help to have some sort of idea of what you wanted to video tape. What kind of look are you trying to achieve? Family video? Professional video? Travel video?
Extremely sharp optics and long focus throw, great manual focus lens. I'd be quite useful for video I'd imagine. In fact, samyang actually makes a few cine lenses.
oh ok thanks for the tips, I do shoot primarily weddings, and portrait, so likely to be used with that.... people... likely within 10 feet I can imagine...
Welcome to FM As others mentioned, for video you are better off with a manual focus lens since they usually have better manual focus mechanism//rings (which is essential for video) than AF lenses.
+1 to the Rokinon 35 1.4, it's amazing for video. Also +1 to AIS lenses, particularly the 105 2.5 AIS for a longer reach and the 28 2.8 AIS for going wider and it also has a very close focus distance. If you have the funds, of course nothing beats Zeiss glass for both video & stills.
