I have a dam (Carpentersville, IL) around 15 minutes from my house where we have about 24 eagles. First time getting out to shoot them with decent light. All of these were taken with a 100-400mm at f/7.1. ISO ranged from 400-800. Anywhere from a 10% to an 80% crop. First is the least cropped and the last is the heaviest. Critique and comments welcome. I tend to crop to fill the frame with the bird when I can...but I don't know if that's always best. Any advice is welcome and appreciated!
Nice first. They look sharp enough. On the first two I would maybe lighten the shadows a bit and even try warming them a tad. It should bring out more detail in the dark feathers
A nice set Jason. Try to leave a little space for the subject to move it - usually more in the direction they are facing. The first two are a little tight. 3 is very nice, and 4 could use a little more room on the right ~ Ron
