This was a dual meet I used to prep for a 16 team varsity invitational a few days later. Colors are not as punchy because the reds were fighting me for some reason.

I would definitely crop tighter on 8. I know it's not always possible, but would it be possible to use a shallower DoF with these shots. The BG is just too in focus and also bright.
I like the lighting itself though, but just too little seperation.

The worst part about these backgrounds is the contradictory 'information' they provide about your horizons. Most look off to me, but who could say? Otherwise, nice work, Carl. I'm sure you're happy to be indoors!

FYI... the topic is almost a year old. Let's not jump to conclusions. I'm sure Carl's chestnuts are still freezing outside for at least another month...

nope. Shot the high school state championship football games last week. I am indoors until baseball. As long as I can keep shooting. Laid up today with bumps and bruises from the Colorado win over Kansas yesterday. Fans stormed the court and I got thrown close to 5 feet. Got back to my feet and saw the USA Today shooter getting trampled and I went over to help him. He needed stitches, I needed beer.

I thought the same about the horizons but it is the handrails that are off. If you look at doorway in the #6 photo, it is dead on but the rails are goofy. Nice set by the way.
