The delays in developing the sensor was apparently a big reason for the big firmware update for the 7D. It’s also suggested that there may not be a 7D/60D amalgamation in the future. The 7D Mark II will not be an APS-H camera as some have wished/rumored.

Personally, I think that spec list is completely reasonable. If they put the 1Dx AF in the 5D3, why not the 7D2? small bump in fps, it's dual digic 5 (not the 5+ in the 1Dx), and of course a small bump up in the sensor. I'm simply hoping for a one stop ISO improvement in the RAW files.
Chris
Nah it is definitely DD5+ if it is driving 24MP at 10fps!
(also note that these digic chips don't cost but dollars)

If the sensor is going to be a real tech improvement and those specs are correct...there are going to be tones of pre-orders. However, my hopes are for the sensor to be half stop better than 7D at high ISO and a small to good improvement in low ISO+DR.
It is going to be a nice year to buy some used 7Ds

As I've said many times: the 'dual Digic 5' spec gives it away as a fake rumor.
The Digic 5+ is a dual Digic.
So, no need for Canon to use dual Digic 5s when they can use a single 5+.
This is just another wishlist, don't hold your breath.
Good to see you repeating that the 7DII won't have dual Digic V, so it will be easier to check your credibility vs Canonrumors when the camera is announced.

Heh. I'm just commenting on a rumor. No credibility needed for that.
Btw, another thing that gives it away as a fake rumor - the $2199 price.
Nikon just announced another fabulously spec'd camera, the D7100, for $1199 - but Canon will price a similar camera for $2199 .
Canon is neither that bold nor that stupid to do this.
Take my opinion with a grain of salt, though .

The D7100 only does 6 fps.
yep and with a raw buffer of 10-14 what a joke!
Given Nikon's statement that the D7100 is their "dx flag ship" camera, when stacked against the CURRENT 7D, the later still looks really good for a 4 years old camera.

Nikon has bailed on the quality DX bodies and only offers the cheapo consumer, uncle Bob stuff.
I seriously hope that Canon does not discontinue the 7D and replace both the 7D/70D with a new cheapo camera. It would be truly stupefying that there is no good camera to hang off a $10K+ long reach lens.

Maybe the D400 goes APS-H
There will be more from them soon enough, temporary flagship claim or not.

The buffer is only 6 frames for high quality RAW files. That is what happens when a camera is CHEAP. For another $500 they could make a really nice D400 that used real memory cards too.

Maybe so, maybe not. When Canon killed the high-end pro 1Ds series bodies and Nikon killed the D3x line, many though surely there would be something better later. I'm still waiting for D4x or a 1D-Xs, but have very little hope.
