The only thing I had to change with the firewire cable for mine was the "author". The exif information had the previous owners name - I only saw it come up on flickr. I didn't mess with anything other than that.
I loved that camera...upgraded to the 1dIII for the live view and tiny bit better high ISO, but it was a lot of money for not a huge upgrade. 1dIIn is a great deal right now.
I've had 1d3's before, and yes the high iso is a tad better than the 2n. But, considering where I came from (Olympus), the 2n is amazing! I find the files clean up extremely well so far, compared to the 7d.
The 1D2n is a workhorse for me 4.5 years after I bought it used here. The good people on this forum directed me to that camera and I have no regrets. I am on my 2nd shutter (3rd overall), but I have also used it for over 600,000 photos in that time span. It was my studio camera for a short while too, until I a bought a used 1Ds2 (also here). That camera and the 1D3 will be with be by my side down in Des Moines in a few weeks for the state high school wrestling championships.

Hi Charles,
How do the 1 D 2n images compare with the 7D's when cropping to match? I have to shoot from my pickup most of the time for health reasons and you lose a lot from 18mp to 8mp plus the 1.6x to 1.3x sencor. I've been passing on the good buys so far on the 2n because of this.

Congrats on the great deal! You need an older Win operating system too. Win 98 or 2000, I think. I know I couldn't use Win XP. I didn't find the PF to be any big deal for me anyway, and didn't mind not using them on a 1D2.
Not true, I am setting PFns of my 1D2N from Vista quite successfully. If occasional lost connection counts in as quite successful processing
I have only one thing to dislike on 1D2n. It's got early-5D2-style black dots next to the highlights. Mine is affected and I read some posts about this here too. Unfortunately, the latest available FW doesn't cure it.

Me either, not so far anyways! Not on my high mileage 5d2 either.
