$1600-3000. I like how you put "most popular package". I dislike having to select a "flash" or "html" page when I first get to your site though.

Thanks. I need to drop that lower package. No one books it. I'll look into dropping the splash page :-)

Thanks for doing this!

$950 to $2200. I don't prefer having to click twice to get the pricing info. Most people aren't inclined to pick the VERY top package, so if you're hoping for them to spend more, consider adding a 4th higher package.

Lots of info, looks great. I think the font is tad hard to read sometimes, feels squished together a bit.

Based on presentation, I think you could go either way. Low-middle or really high end. Not sure if that enigma is what you think is best, but I think a starting price could possibly qualify clients more. I imagine in NYC that people have serious money to spend, and if someone is too cheap they might pass simply on price, but if they knew you started at $5k that might help.

I'd guess anywhere between $3500 - 10k.

Thanks, Spencer. Yeah, I'm one of those people that are against putting up any rates because I don't want to scare anyone off based on my starting rate. I want people who love my work to engage me first. When I'm in the market for a new [fill in the blank], I have a loose budget in mind. Once I go out and shop around, I get a better sense of what's out there in terms of quality and performance, etc... I'm also the type of person that will pay more than originally planned if I love something. Those are the people that I want to attract.

Weddings - $3000 to $4500.
Seniors - $600-1400. You said "in-tudio", did you mean studio?
Families - $800-2000.

Very nicely laid out informationally, but graphically I think it could be a tad better. Give the content area some space on the left and right, its right along the edge!

Typo fixed and I'll take a look at giving the content more room. Great feedback, thanks Spencer!

Your site structure is funky. Under families you list "investment", but under weddings you don't. I have to click on a wedding gallery, and then the whole site changes. Then at the top there is a button and then I can view the weddings pricing. Kinda confusing, some people might not ever get to see this info.

$2500-4500.

Families - $300-500.

At first the background image didn't load, and the all white looked really high-end. Then it loaded and didn't look quite as expensive...

It's hard to say without any inkling of rates. You could be super cheap (unlikely) or mega expensive (unlikely), so I'd say you're middle of the road. $3000-5000.

On your storytelling, it's not immediately obvious to click on the image to go to the story...maybe change the graphic a bit instead of just text on the image?

Ha. You know, I've considered that about the background... Actually working on a re-design that would be cleaner like it used to be and add more information and I'm trying to find the best way to portray the storytelling stuff. Right now it requires flash which I'd like to move away from as it's the only part of my site left that uses Flash.

FWIW, my clients spend $5-8k on average, starting point is $3k.

It sounds like we are similar. I generally have loose budgets, so as long as you make it super duper easy to get a response back from you with information, then great.

I don't think a price range would necessarily hurt though.

Spencer,

I'm portraits only, not weddings but I'd love to hear your estimate. I'm very part time and I've only just now gotten a site together. Still working on logo creation and adding a blog:

Thank you.

For weddings you have prices listed in two different places. I'd suggest consolidating the location of information. $1200-3000.

All others - $250-500.

Kinda, wasn't apparent at first and then I saw it. Make it easier for clients to see your work, less thinking on their part!

I would love for you to have a look at my site. It may be difficult to give pricing as we exchange in ZAR, but if you could let me know the worth in $ that would be great.

Thanks so much,

You communicate more about process than why I should hire you. You don't list any pricing, so I have no idea what you're even available to be hired for...weddings, rock concerts, etc. You talk about weddings in the FAQ though, and its a very lengthy and hard to read section as all I see is a wall of text.

Your home page shows a different top menu structure than what it shows after I click on any of them.

Other elements of your site are a tad confusing (landing page thumbnails lead to different sections, but the same as the top menu). I think your site could be improved quite a bit!

I think your pricing page (how you present it, the words you use) makes you look more amateur than your portfolio does. The opening slides showed some good posing and portraits, and made me think you'd be more expensive than what your pricing shows.

But it sounds like I can hire you for $100 and get ALL the images for $200. I think you are selling yourself VERY short and could be earning 10x that amount.

Vancouver Portrait Photography

I think you do a great job showing me the available options: all-occasion portraits, storytelling, weddings. And combined with the titles and images, it gives me a great idea the difference between them. Kudos.

However on the pricing side it's very open ended. I know what the start is, but you don't lend the consumer any idea of what they should expect to be spending, and universally in sales, it's always best to start high and go low, rather than get their hopes up that $350 will get them something and hope they spend $2000 on a family session.

I'm sure that there is a post-website conversation that helps them get a better idea, or at least I would hope so

$2900-4500. I would just move the price under the image so ALL of it is right there. I didn't see it at first until I looked back up.
