p.1 #1 · A Snowy Maternity Session and a Long Awaited Blessing
This lady is one of my very first clients. She hired me when I was just starting out to shoot her little girl's newborn photos. I remember being SO nervous, studying my butt off on lighting, posing, etc the week leading up to the session, etc. I wasn't very good back then, but she has stuck by me and turned out to be one of my foundation clients...when they lived here in town they knew EVERYONE and she sent me so much business! Ronne (mom) is going to be 45 years old in March, so they started pretty late on their family. They tried for 2 years to have a sibling for their little girl, fertility treatments and all...nothing was working. The month after they had given up on fertility treatments, she got pregnant on her own. Things are going really well and she is now less than 2 months out from her due date with a sweet baby boy. I am beyond thrilled for them! We began planning a 'winter/snow' maternity session several months back. They moved to the Phoenix area a few years ago (3 1/2 hours from me) so we met in the middle in Flagstaff. This snowy aspen grove was a gem of a find, and we knew when we found it that it was the perfect location for her pictures. It was pretty humorous with 2 pregnant gals trudging through knee deep snow, but I'm loving the results so far. Just wanted to share a few!

And just because, here is my favorite photo of Lucienne (big sister) the last time I saw them. She was just 14 months old here. She will be 4 in March.

This is really gorgeous. I like that you think of it as a fantasy shot, and you delivered on that. Pictures of the girl are just a nice add-on. As for your shot from a few years ago with the young girl, ha! that is just precious. Yeah, you've gotten a lot better, but it really wasn't a steep incline. You had it in you all along.
The very first shot is just amazing, the more I look at it. I tend to think you created the shadows from the tree, and I just love them artistically. It adds to the fantasy look. I wonder if you created the sun glare as well, and how much light you added to her hair. If you did add these things, they're brilliant because I can't automatically tell that you've done it. If you didn't, then you just did a brilliant job capturing them in the photograph. Sweet job!!!

Thanks so much Ron! It was a fun session, and we planned so much for it leading up to this. I drug my husband along with me because there was no way I was going to drive in an unfamiliar town and in the snow by myself. lol Good thing because we blew a tire while we were there and if I'd had to change that myself while pregnant in the snow, I wouldn't have been a happy girl. In the end, they turned out better than I had envisioned. The maternity photos she had done with her little girl (before I knew her) were absolutely terrible, and with this being her last baby, she really wanted something special to remember it by. I'm hoping that these pictures will do the trick for her.

I like this series - good idea and setting of the scene. The two last shots are cute. I like the gesture in the second last shot. I think it would been a wee bit nicer without the sunset in the back. The last one will be invaluable to the girl later in life.
