Still, to me, I feel that this company basically 'steals' from Canon USA.
------------------------------------------------------------
So Canon Japan manufactures for me a bad camera for $6,000. And I'm the one stealing from Canon USA?

So, do you think it's a correct implication? Anyhow, if you know that you're not supposed to have Canon USA warranty for it, but you still take advantage of it because you want to pay a lower price, yes, I believe that's the case.

Let me put it this way. In the past until now, from what I know, Canon will provide warranty service for customers as long as they can provide a receipt from a retailer in the US, authorized one or not. They do that as a 'courtesy' service.

Why is there any difference between authorized dealers and those that are not? The higher price that the end users pay, part of it goes to Canon USA. And that's how they hire and pay people to take care the warranty service for you. This is pretty much one of the reasons why your Canon USA camera body can only be sent to Canon USA facilities for warranty service. You can't just go to another country or Japan and say, "Hey, this is a camera from your company. You have to fix it for me."

Now, say, if a company or even I myself can find cameras from outside the USA to sell within the US, then use this 'loophole' to take advantage to advertise my items as having Canon USA warranty, do you really think it's fair?

I went three people up the ladder at Canon all telling me my $480 TC had no warranty since I bought it on ebay. They all said the fact that it was new from a Canon dealer "Beach Camera" meant nothing. They must love you.

That doesn't make much sense. Why would there be no warranty just because the sales transacted on ebay? Canon's warranty agreement doesn't even state that a product must be purchased from an authorized dealer let alone from an authorized dealer's storefront/website (vs ebay). The warranties are here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/professional/standard_display/support_pro/pro_product-warranty

You must have talked to wrong people. Receipts from Beach Camera on eBay is no difference from the ones you buy directly from their website or by phone order. The only difference is in the field that says "Sales Rep" will say EBAY in it. I have sent my equipment in with these type of receipts for service with no problem.

Anyhow, that has nothing to do with BigValueInc misleading people by their false advertisement.

This is a correct interpretation of their warranty enclosure.

Terms of warranty include a statement like this:

"...packaged with this Limited Warranty and identified by model number on this limited warranty card (each a "Product")when purchased and used in the United States or Canada."

On the other hand, one shouldn't imply that there is no need to purchase from an authorized dealer to get Canon USA warranty. They provide a Canon USA warranty card to distinguish their products from gray market and you're guaranteed to get one if you buy from an authorized dealer. And that's why Canon USA encourages customers to buy from authorized dealers.

If you buy somewhere else and one day Canon asks you to provide them the warranty card, but you don't have it, they can refuse to honor warranty and you can do nothing. (I know that's not how they practice, but it doesn't mean they won't do it.)

I bought an 5d3 from them, it comes with the canon usa warranty card. I am wondering why canon did this, looks like a huge amount of DSLR were sold by this big value Inc.

A friend's buddy bought a 5D3 from BigValueInc last month for $2550, the camera came in a kit box w/o 24-105L. Not US warr, EOSCount show 323 clicks. Bottomline, you may get a customer return. You get what you pay for.

Even if I agree with you. And just like you, would prefer to buy it from a nicer shop. It's not fair and you can't compare to this price which was posted over 8 months ago. If waiting another 8 months it will of course be even cheaper

I know nothing about the store or their policies so i can't coment. That said, if your gut feelings make you feel uncomfortable you don't need our comments. Listen to your gut.

Personally, for that money I would wait for prices to drop a bit or spend more at a place with a well known reputation.

Bigvalueinc is supposedly a canon authorized dealer.

Where did you get this information? They are NOT on the latest version of Canon's list of authorized dealers.

"A fool and his money are soon parted"

Canon gives their dealers extremely thin profit margins, and enforce MAP pricing. When you see a significantly lower price, there is a reason why, and it's not a good one. Don't be greedy, use your brain and walk away.

I agree. I only buy from Amazon, B&H, and Adorama. It's not worth the risk and hassle from dealing with someone else especially when dealing with $6000. That's a lot of money!
