We had a fantastic 2+ week trip to Namibia in December. It was a holiday rather than a specific photo trip but thankfully my husband was usually in patient mood so I was usually able to spend the time I needed on my photography.
Given the awful weather we've had in the UK, it's ironic that my only 'complaint' about the trip was that the weather was too good for the most part. The rains only started to come in right at the end of our time there, but I did get very lucky with some lovely storms on the last evening of photography.
I've included that one here, of the Giant's Playground (boulders and quiver trees all around) and also one of a burnt out old Hudson, riddled with bullet holes and allegedly the attempted get away vehicle of a couple of diamond thieves. Both with the D800E and 24-120/4.
Many thanks for looking and Happy New Year to everyone.
Lizzie,
Great light and simplicity in both. I like the pastel band of light in #2, but the warm light on the trees contrasting with the lightning and dark skies in #1 is superb
The first one is spectacular. The 2nd one is such a strange photo in that the car just makes me think of the many desert parks in the USA and not something I would expect to see in Namibia.
Thanks so much for all the kind words everyone! I got rather lucky with that first one - so much going on around me it was hard to keep my head - that was actually one of the more modest bolts of lightning but the only one I managed to catch.
Lizzie
Great pictures. For some reason, I find the lightning bolt in the background of the first picture more interesting than the tree The picture is amazing.
Lizzie,
Love them both.
The first one for the obvious, mood, colors & lightning, but also for the interesting background & details.
The second one tells a story, well at least our imagination tells us so
Great contrasts here

Two goodies, Lizzie, but the first is even goodier than the second. The light and colour (tribute to the Mother Country from the Colonies ) are perfect.
The lightning adds a wonderful touch. I love it when serendipity strikes.
