Excellent find, processing. And I am curious too.
Personally, I struggle to find a good match between Fred's mats and images and I rarely find the Mat Black works for me. I dont think its the best choice here because of the toning of the image.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts - yes, black matting is a poor fit here.
The object is a sculpture at a local park. It suffers from a poor background - 360 degrees worth. I do not have any full views but here are four to give you a sense of its form.

All but #1 are pretty much untouched - as you might notice it also serves as a leaf and pine straw catcher - a clean-up nightmare for those (me) with marginal patience for that sort of thing.
