Got my $1000 rebate check ($800 applied on purchase). All in all a really good experience. I have three roll spindles now and am hanging them on the wall for quick deployment. "Civilians" Oh and AHh over big prints since few have seen large format photographic prints (just 4 color lithos. So far not feeling the lack of an internal spectrophotometer. Must comment again on how easy to use and fast the 8400 is over my Z3100. Really encourages routine large format printing.
Thanks for the information. I'm about ready to buy an ipf6400 which is US $1,635 (free shipping) with current rebates. Your experience with the 8400 is helpful, please keep the posts coming!
Does the Ps6 printer driver let you make 16bit/channel prints ? I think that was one of the advantages of the Canon driver several years ago (in Ps and also in DPP) but I am no longer up to speed on such things.

I use a Canon 8300 and an Epson 9900. I prefer thr Epson. Just paid 1600.00 to have the Canon repaired after 1.5 years. Canon 330 carts are 170.00 vs. Epson at 128.00
but the question is which printer is more 'efficient' in it's use of ink? If the Epson uses more ink per print or is clogging and needs more frequent cleaning, then the price delta becomes a different issue than just raw cost.
