It seems to come and go. I ordered mine Sunday at the 2,299-to-1,999 price. It arrived yesterday, but I'm waiting to see if Adorama honors the $300 credit before I crack it open. lol I'm still waiting for a reply.
The sale is officially over, but I talked with someone at B&H and they honored the discounted price. Ordered and paid for :-) Now I can finally sell my wife's 24-70 mark I that has been giving us fits lately

It looks like you get a $300 AMEX card, so essentially, you are paying full price, but getting $300 back to buy something else with.

This is not working for me at all. I have checked on all three sites, and for me (even at final checkout), it is $2299
You have to put it in your cart and then proceed to check out in order for the price to update. I just purchased it.. $1999 at b&h + $300 mail in rebate from Canon. It should be here today.
I liked my mkI, so I was just waiting for the mkII to come down sufficiently in price.

It was not working that way...I had to call into B&H and have them manually lower the price for me. The sale ended a day or two ago, they told me.

Where do you see that? Everyone seems to be saying their checkout price is $1,999.
So glad I stumbled upon this thread! Ordered mine a few weeks back at the $2299 price...called Adorama and they gave me $300 store credit for the price difference. I'll take it! Thanks to whoever brought the $1999 price to our attention!
Now to sell the Mark1...always liked that lens but the new version is so sweet!
I'm very close to buying this lens. I just keep thinking I'll want that 1.4 in my 24 1.4 though. Tough call. That and the fact that The Digital Lens said, copy to copy it's inconsistent. I'm a little concerned. But the general consensus seems to be it's great. Just want to make sure it's not monetary confirmation bias.

Man, I didn't really care for my Mk I. It was great since it was one of my first lenses but it constantly let me down in terms of IQ. Now that I have most of the major L primes, I'm wondering if the Mk II would really benefit me. I don't really mind the lens switching since I'm a harness person and if I was in not so great weather, I normally choose a weather resistant prime like the 24LII or 50L to stay on the body. If I didn't have the primes, the Mk II would be a shoe in since the IQ is great and its also weather resistant. I would probably still shoot mostly at 24 to 35 and occasionally go to 70 for portrait but the 50 range seems to be a downer compared to the 50L. Mostly this lens would be my single travel lens that I could take with the 5DIII but I also have an EOS M which can fit all the L primes so the total weight of my EOS M kit with 2-3 L primes would be virtually the same as a 5DIII with the 24-70LII. It's tough to make a decision when I think about what I want to take with me on a leisure trip. For weddings I would still go to the primes mostly since that's what people are paying me for anyways. The 24-70LII would be a great wedding lens but I see myself getting really lazy with it.
The first 24-70 must have had an incredible amount of QC issues because mine is amazing even wide open. Definitely keeping it for my wife to use and as a backup. For those with less than ideal image quality, did you ever try sending it in to Canon for a calibration/projection test? I do that to all my lenses about every two years and while expensive for 6 lenses, it keeps my glass working perfectly.

my mark I was always great as well...although I never shot it wide open. I was always at either 3.2 or 3.5. We are about to send it into Canon for the 3rd time in one month for the same repair issue, though. I need something that I can rely on, and Canon cannot seem to get it fixed properly
That's unfortunate, what's the problem? I had an issue with an old 70-200 2.8 once. Took a few trips and they finally requested all my gear to be calibrated together (back when they did this).
