p.1 #1 · Franklin Road Christmas Street Lights

Each year during the last few weeks before Christmas the residents in this early 1900's colonial street close to down town Auckland City decorate their houses. This has become a family outing where parents with their young children & grandparents go just about dusk and walk up one side & then down the other enjoying the wonder of residents christmas lights on their houses. Often buskers play musical instruments with Christmas tunes, and the warm summer conditions are enjoyed by people from the suburbs who soak up this family Christmas atmosphere.

Apologies for the camera shake all hand held on very slow shutters speed

Regards & Christmas Greetings to the special FM family - community

These are all wonderful, Went.
Except for the most important shot (the old MG) , your hand-held shooting didn't bother me at all- barely noticed it.
What a great tradition for the community- without overdoing it and making the whole thing seem commercialized.
Charlie
PS- I don't really care that much about MGs; back then I was a Triumph TR-3 man .

It's a first for me too, surfing in a red suite would be a bit hard swimming out to get the wave for the ride back in.

Thanks Charles, the kids I don't think even saw the car they were so focused on the presents and the lights and running on adrenalin, my guess is that the soft toys & the presents go inside when the lights go off later at night.

I like the idea though I think you could've experimented more with the compositions or the depth. Night photography may seem a bit difficult but its always good to try. Love the second picture though, its great for any magazine!
