I have finally decided to sell most of my photo equipment. I'm not interested in being ripped off again by the paypal and ebay, nor do I want to **** where I post, by selling at FM. What do you do in this situation?
I don't get the **** ? I've sold on Adorama before; be prepared to get about 40% best case scenario of current USED retail from them. KEH gives even less. Sorta like firearms: my 3k sniper rifle on the used market is about 2k to a private buyer, and MAYBE 1k to a dealer.
Having been so active for so long here, why would you not use the FM buy/sell? It's less costly than ebay which is fairly reasonable compared to any consignment.
Like you, I don't want t*o* shit w*he*e I post, but I wouldn't hesitate to sell on B&S. Most of my sales are on eBay - "being ripped off" is the cost of doing business there.
Eric, I always go Craigslist first (also includes local variant of CL), then FM and POTN. eBay/Amazon merchant sale is my last option. Even with all of the fees in the last options, you would get much more than a big merchant. Only go that route if you need the cash fast.
I understand your point on selling on FM, but I would definitely reconsider it.
