Snapped a few this evening. Still need to put it through its paces but seems like it may be a tad soft in some of the shots I took. Here's some late night bourbon porn for ya.

Give it a chance Clayton. Get it out in the sunshine today if you can and give'r a workout. I hope Sigma finally got these dialed in for the Nikon mount.

Mine arrived this morning. Needs somewhere between +5 and +10 AF fine tune but focus is fine otherwise. My 50/1.8g is definitely sharper but I really like the Sigma's rendition. Not sure if my copy is just soft or if the sigma in general is not as sharp as the nikon.
Overall though, the images are great and I'm just nitpicking at this point. Probably keeping it.
Fortunately, I live 30 mins away from the Sigma service center in NY (and the Nikon service center actually) so I might pay them a visit in a couple of days to get the lens checked out.

I just got a new D7000 and was playing with the Sigma 50 1.4 on it. Stopped down a little, it's very sharp. No correction needed. If yours is soft, you might want to rethink your AF fine tune and see if you can find a better setting for it.

Got mine tonight! New in the box, just as expected.
The few shots around the home office I've taken thus-far (on the D700) seem on the money. But I'll need to get it out and about for a full workout. So far, so good!

It gets better! The price is down to $379 and the code in OP has dropped to $10 off bringing the price down to $369. This lens wasn't on my radar, but I'm seriously tempted now...

It's another $10 off if you check out with the Visa checkout deal. Tempted to order a second one while my first one is on it's way back. Just don't want another lemon like the first one I had.

I bought my copy the day it came out. It focuses perfectly on both my D200 and D7000. Spectacular sharpness, even wide open. I think a lot of the complaints are from people who aren't used to shooting with the razor thin depth of field and have problems locking onto the proper focus setting.

Last time I play the Sigma lottery. -20 AF fine tune and it still wasn't as sharp as I felt like my Canon was. I think my 50mm 1.8G is sharper. I'm sending it back. What a disappointment. I thought Sigma had supposedly gotten better, but I guess not.

That is right. No more peeling off material and look very nice. Not like the new art 35mm 1.4 though.
My 30/1.4 with the new finish chipped super easily though. When I bought my D600 I rented a Siggy 50/1.4. It's a great lens for portraits, and the focus was spot on. But the corners were just bad. For the size and heft, I sure wanted sharper corners. As a walk around lens it failed, but as a dedicated portrait lens it's pretty good.

They redesigned the 30/1.4 EX, 50/1.4 EX and 85/1.4 EX to a smooth finish a while ago (used to have a "crinkle" finish.) I like it much better.
Test shot to come soon. I'm a bit busy with Elder Care these days.... But will have some up soon.
I believe the 85mm 1.4 only came with smooth finish
