We have 8, and that's definitely different for us. We usually get booked 3-6 months in advance, but this year we start up January 13th and have bookings all the way until summer. The good thing is, all spring we will book for summer/fall/winter, so we will easily triple that 8 bookings by year's end. It's going to be a good year me thinks.

Unusually low for me right now, just 8 Hoping things pick up, or maybe it will be the motivation I need to get my ass in gear and chase after some more commercial work

Cheer up guys! The great thing about wedding photography is that there is a natural leveling to bookings. Brides start finding out that there aren't many photographers still open, so that gives the photographers that are still open a much better chance of booking. So while booking up early is nice, it doesn't mean that people in the 3-8 range now won't fill a lot of dates in the coming months!

Also remember not a lot of people book in November and December. They are busy with the holidays and focusing their money and attention elsewhere. January and February are usually huge booking months for me.

Currently I am at 5 primary & 2nd shooting for 1, which I am very happy with because I am getting the type of clients that I want - who value photography and enjoy the work they've seen on my website
with a full time job & family, I am targeting max 15 weddings so i'm happy with where i'm at so far

This is very true. January is usually huge for me in terms of booking. However I just booked a wedding today. And received two more inquiries.

We've got 26 book for now, with two brides I'm waiting to get contracts back from. I'm reworking pricing for the start of the new year to shoot less hopefully for 2014.

Booked 7, then realized I was probably charging too little. I have another full-time career, so 2013 is the test for how many weddings I can handle without going insane (or driving my wife insane!).

I find it interesting how the number you booked last year at this time compares to this year and how many you actually shot last year. I am at 10 and hoping for 15. Last year at this time I wasn't in business yet. For 2012, I shot two as primary photographer and second shot as much as I could.
