Well, I'm pretty excited... I just bought the 200f/2 VRII, a lens that I have lusted after for some time now Here are my first quicky test shots with the lens all taken handheld on my Df... I'm really looking forward to learning how to get the best out of this one. Should be lots of fun! (Just noticed that the VR was on... probably not needed with the shutter speeds being over 1000.)
For those of you who may not be aware, Hejnar Photo makes a very nice replacement Lens Foot for the 200f2. Mine came yesterday and I have to say it is very well made. Nice attention to detail, very sturdy, and can be used as a handle! Here is a quick image of me using it as a handle...
The only downside is that you cannot reverse the lens hood over this foot. As is it with all things in life, we must choose which compromises we can live with. I'd rather be able to use it as a handle than be able to reverse the hood
Chris from Hejnar provided me with excellent customer service, very timely replies to emails... even on a Sunday, and shipped the product out extremely fast! I have no affiliation with him other than being a very satisfied customer
Also get a Folger's coffee lid to use as a lens cap. I've got a few spares kicking around

Hey!! Don't forget to punch a small hole in the center of the lid, as condensation
can rear it's ugly head if you don't. Ask me how I know...

Thank you Laura and Will for mentioning the coffee lid for use of a lens cap. I already have the Aquatech for the lens though.
Does anyone have a 300 f/2.8 VRII in addition to the 200/2? I use my 300 a lot during the winter indoor season. I absolutely love it. It's actually my main lens. I'm wondering how the 200/2 with the 1.4x converter attached compares in terms of focus speed, sharpness, and bokeh. I definitely can't have both lenses, so I'm wondering if selling the 300 for the 200 would be worth it in terms of flexibility for having the bare 200 when I want it in addition to using it with the 1.4x most of the time.
Definitely your usage may be different, but I primarily purchased 300mm F2.8 AFS-II (Not VR) to capture candid portraits. In comparison of this lens I find 200mm F2 VR II , not only more usable. I also believe that pictures appear slightly more beautiful with 200mm F2 VR II.
Yet, I am thinking of selling 300mm F2.8 AFS-II but I am not able to convince myself for not selling it, even though it is far less used in comparison of 200mm F2 VR II. I believe that I might need two long range fast Auto Focus Lenses for some school / college sports event.
I prefer to use 300mm F2.8 AFS-II hand holding far more than 200mm F2, but resulting images forces me to use 200mm F2 instead.
Presumably you find 200mm usable length that is why you posted this question, please go ahead. I love this lens.
