I passed by trenchmonkey's neck o' the woods yesterday. Didn't stop for long, or I would've bought him a beer. Maybe next time But I did stop long enough to snap these pics with the chub:
Hey Will! We visited the Four Corners monument and thought about visiting you, but that's a good 5 hrs drive!! I'm thinking about shooting at Bosque next season, so if it pans out, I'll let you know. Would really love to meet you

Sweet! I did a handstand in 4 States at once, 1st time I visited there. Always down
for a Bosque meet n greet, Joseph...hope it pans out.
You know that cow that shows up (TV commercial) when you're eatin' a burger?
This sucker drops by as I'm washin' down the last of a green chile chicken burrito!
I've looked at every image in this thread and read every post and the result is gear lust like I've never had. Ever. Not even with motorcycles. I have a question I'm hoping y'all can help with.
Is there that much of a difference between the VR and the VRII? Secondly, if say, I bought the VR and had a problem with the lens, what kind of money am I looking at to have it repaired?
I know focus motors eventually wear out. Maybe the VR wears out as well. Would the cost to repair a VR model 1 be so costly to make the VRII a better risk?
Just so you know, I'm dreaming here. As much as I would love to shoot with this lens, it is a serious boatload of money.
Bob, Nano dust helps a tad with strong backlighting, but doubt you'd tell
the difference in normal shooting conditions. I'd look for a refurb of the
1st version and save a couple grand No idea on price of future repair
costs, my current one is 5 yrs old and works like brand new. GL
