Helped teach an off camera flash meetup last night and didn't really get to shoot until the class wrapped up as we lost our natural light. Shooting six frames as it got really dark, I still love how the 200mm performed.
My 200/2 ais arrived. It looks almost brand new What a beast ! Beautifully built though and looks like it will last a lifetime. Took a few test shots with my A7r (which almost disappears behind the lens). Think I'm really going to like this lens. The bokeh is out of the world and its sharp wide open. Gotta love the focus peaking and excellent evf of the sony a7r but I digress.
Question - So i found out that these super expensive lenses don't come with a lens cap ! Has anyone found one that's reasonably priced ?

Congrats
I'm not sure if the AIS and VR versions have the same diameter, but some VR owners use the Don Zeck lens cap (about $50). trench "SOOC" monkey uses a Folgers lid. I found a lid from a protein shake and it fits perfectly so I'm using that

What in the actual **** That's the funniest DIY thing I've seen in photography!
By the way they're both called "chubby" for a good reason But the AiS is even fatter. Especially with the hood attached. The official diameters are 4.9 in. (124 mm) for the AF-S and 132-138 mm for the AiS, depending on the version.
I guess negative feedback is always welcome but this is taken at f2. It's just a matter of the distance between the camera and the subject and also the distance between the subject and the background. I guess I will need to revise my subjects and in the future post pictures of a coffee mug, a beer can etc. taken at the minimum focus distance.

Don't get all butt-hurt...
I wasn't criticizing your photo, but i'm just surprised that bridge wasn't turned into beautiful blobs of red bokeh..
How far away from the couple were you, and how far away was the bridge?
I've seen shots from this lens with backgrounds 3 feet away being utterly obliterated into impressionistic colors.
Focusing distance is roughly 40 meters (131ft). The resulting depth of field is nearly 5 meters (16ft) even at f2. The 16:9 ratio might give an illusion that this was taken much closer. However, I would have probably had to go swimming in order to close the gap .
