Will,
Absolutely beautiful!

Many thanks, Marty. Had some nice light to work with on a night I decided
to shoot "tight" w/DX vs. my usual FX...and crop a tad. Challenging!
Here's one from my favorite sports: Empor in SW von georgsfoto auf Flickr
200/2 VR1 at f/2.2 - 1/1000sec, D3s at ISO2000
B&W for sentimental reasons - I've shot my first handball-images at this venue about 20 years ago (with FM2 and F-601, AF 85/1.8 on Ilford HP5).
Last November I spent 2 weeks trekking in Uganda. This trip I was seeking primates and knowing I'd be in the rain forests I decided that Chubby ( 200/2 ) and 85/1.4 would be my only lens on either my D800s or D3s. 75% of my keepers were shot higher than 5000 ISO. Had I chose ny 70-200/2.8 I would have missed many shots. Many of the shots were 6400 + , 2.0 & 1/100 sec. One day the D3s was all I could use due to overcast skies and the forest canopy nearly made the day night. The D800e was no slouch either, I believe both of these are from the D800e.
The gorillas were in better light but I fell in love with the chimps. Daily we trekked around 12 to 15 miles following the chimps. The good news is porters were available and I used one for my main pack, even so the jungle like trek added lbs to the 200/2 after each mile.
Thanks Corey,
We were lucky enough to see some of that behavior when another group challenged their turf. They also have lightning like speed as they chased off the other group. Still they have so many traits similar to us, I could relate.
Bought one last year, had it for a few months but in the end sold it because of the weight.
Didn't take too long before I regretted selling it, even though I had a 70-200 VRII.
But I knew I would some day pick up another at some point, and tomorrow is that day

Way to go Took me 3X to 'learn my lesson" re: the Chubster. Never because of weight...
more of a financial decision (got by with the 2.8 VRII) Told the Mrs she can bury me with this current one.
Remember my very 1st one was $3695 new, my 2nd $3999 new, and my third a used EX+ for $3800. When
there are no peeps around, it's for the birds.
