Busy week...took these Monday, but then had hockey Tuesday, CU/CSU basketball in Boulder on Wednesday, then Thursday and Friday had 8 basketball games at a local high school, so I took most of today to finish posting to Maxpreps and resting before it all starts again Monday....
Bounced AB800's (2) and the 1D MkII and 7D with 70-200 or 24-70. Bounced because one strobe could not be direct fired because of the scoreboard. I shot at 1/2 power and after getting home I realized I should have shot at full power and dropped the ISO. A little ambient was sneaking in causing some motion blur...oh well, live and learn. I also forgot to tape my dial down on my vertical grips and would change my shutter speed when switching cameras. Shot most of one quarter at 1/100th because I hit the dial when I switched cameras.
Ed, CHSAA, Colorado High School Activities Association, has strobes built into their rule book. Every sport to my knowledge can be strobed (including volleyball). I have heard of only one event in one sport (Diving) that they have requested a photographer not use strobes, but that has been it since I have been here. So far no one has said anything, and I do not even ask anymore. I just show up and start shooting.
