I thought the latest Canon Firmware updates now give you that message on their cameras with non-canon batteries.
They do; except in the case of the 6D, it came with firmware like that. Even the latest firmware for my 60D didn't care, which is what caught me off guard.
I still have Canon batteries, and prefer them, but don't mind the off-brands. I have four of them right now, but only one Canon, and I'd prefer not to drop significant amounts of money. I'll probably get one more Canon, but that's it; if I get the grip linked on the first page (and it performs as claimed), that'll put me at six off-brands and one (soon to be two) Canons. That's a whole lot of batteries!

I am surprised to hear I am the only one have this issue. I have bought two Canon Battery from BH at $59. and both doesn't work with my 6D. the original one seems just working fine.
I will order at Bestbuy this time if I decide keep 6D.

It's probably back-stock; but I'm really surprised that a Canon LP-E6 doesn't work in the 6D, that's actually good information for the rest of us. I was happy that the one I bought at Best Buy charged right up in Canon's charger and then worked perfectly in the camera.

both of them have date code 2011. Hopefully, that is the only explanation of it.

See if you can tell them you're shooting with a 6D; otherwise, they wouldn't know they needed to send you the latest version. I got lucky with the one from Best Buy, but that's probably because they don't keep many in stock. They want $100 for them, too.
