I'm sure that most folk that have been to Monument Valley will recognize this formation as it's right next doors.
My memory forgets the name of the butte but as we were driving away from Monument Valley I was drawn by the clouds and sky and the way they interacted with the main formation. We'd been up at Monument Valley for sunrise which wasn't brilliant. To cap the morning off I was really under the weather with a bad stomach bug but was still trying to get my group a great image.
And that is where this came from.. driving down the road towards nowhere in particular when I saw this cloud formation over the butte. The strangest thing was that nobody in the group saw the same thing and said "STOP" look at that...!
I like it very much. The clouds provide a lot of punch, complimenting the buttes and desert scene. On my monitor, the sky above the clouds is almost a blue black which becomes very saturated as you move down below the clouds in altitude.
