The Canadian Rockies were formed by the incredible forces of plate tektonics- aka "continental drift.
The layers of rocks were shoved up, turned, twisted; and then eroded by eons of rainfall and the carving actions of glaciers.
Along the road to Malign Lake- near Medicine Lake.
The light was good that day.
The light was good??!!!
Ansel himself would have done something involuntarily in his shorts if he'd been there.
I hope I get to see such a dramatic scene myself someday, let alone photograph it.
Is this converted or shot in B&W Charlie?
Thanks Chris, Tom, Ray, Douglas, MrChile and Tim.
Yes, MrChile, "The light was good." Intended as an understatement to elicit perhaps a smiley face because of the humor in the term within this context. Ah- failed yet again .
Kodak color slide, scanned and converted. The color version is fairly monochromatic.

The failure is partly mine Charlie, but you should know by now that I'll take any opportunity given to say/write something off color.

Yeah, John- I know .
I assumed that your desire to make comments that are "off color" was the main reason you concentrate on the B&W Forum.
Okay, MrChile, read my words again.... slowly.
You may now chuckle .

You nearly always make me chuckle Charlie.
Still wouldn't mind seeing this one in color.

Thanks Timmy and Chris.
Ahah! Chris- you're trying to get me in trouble on the B&W Forum, aren't you?
Well, it won't work!
(By a slight margin, my preference is not the non-color version.)

I do prefer the color one here Charlie, as it gives a bit more shadow detail. I know its blasphemy to suggest, but a bit less contrast (in the shadows) might be nice. Very powerful image.
