For a long time I wanted to get half and half images of sharks in the water. In the old days I would put my camera (in a underwater housing)) into the water off the stern of the boat, I always worried about loosing my hands or arms.
See attached link how I was able to do this with a home made pole cam. The pole cam can also be used for alligators.
I often use a pole for surface (or near the surface) shark shots too (mainly white sharks), it's the best way to go to get close and with some control. You don't get bobbed around like in a cage either, which can be frustrating. Great photo Gregory, that's a stunning split.
