p.1 #1 · Nex and External Flash Options

Looking for better flash on my Nex 7, and I think some of my bigger (Canon) lenses are blocking the built in flash.

The dedicated flash is the hvlf20s; is it any good? Or are there better options, bearing in mind that I would like to keep it small for travelling.

And I note that some folk are doing bounce flash with the built-in flash. How is that done; do you just hold the flash back with your finger so it's pointing at the roof?

Many thanks for advice.

I bought a fairly cheap Vivitar myself. better than the built in, not too large, does bounce, basic bare bones however.

I just hold the flash back to bounce it, gives a much more natural fill.
I was looking for a low profile Minolta flash,
there is this:
HVL-F20AM but it still is a bit too big for my liking.

Do the flashes for the big alpha dslrs work well with the NEX? I mean do they do all the auto stuff flashes are meant to?

I think this is what I want. The built in flash seems to get blocked by anything bigger than a lens hood.

The NEX-7 has a fully compliant iISO shoe, but I think there were a few limitations.
And now Sony is abandoning the iISO show for hybrid version of the ISO standard.
