That's the problem... tried changing jpg sizes, looked thru the custom functions, couldn't find any reason why my counter always says 7 regardless of my cf/sd card type/size etc.
Anyone have any ideas? Hope it's not a broken processor etc...

Do you have high ISO NR set to strong, as that's about the only thing that will greatly reduce burst depth unless you have a chinese knockoff clone memory card that is utter rubbish. Plenty of fake CF cards sold on ebay and they look genuine.
Pixel Perfect, thanks! Yes, it was the high iso NR I had on... tried it once and forgot to turn it off shame on me!!! Thanks again, FM saved the day...
