I just returned from a trip to Seal River Lodge, north of Churchill, Manitoba. The main purpose of the trip was to see and photograph polar bears, but we were treated to 2 nights with visible Northern Lights.
This is looking East towards the Hudson Bay - and the visible star is Jupiter.
That is a killer shot! the stars shining through the aurora, the shape of the aurora itself, the hint of land below, give it a grand, ethereal quailty. Amazing photo.
It looks like that the Jupiter is having a good time watching the dance of the green flame!
I love the texture of the flame as well as the land below.

The only thing I miss from living in Northern Alberta for 3 years was the Northern Lights.. this is a really good capture of them especially with the stars. I am a suck for portrait orientation landscapes too.
