I was visiting my wife's family in Columbus last month and decided to take a few days and check out some of the local areas. Unfortunately, I was a few weeks late as the fall color was wiped away by the run off storms from Hurricane Sandy. In this photograph, most of the fall color was swirling in the pool in front of me so I decided to shoot less of a wide angle to try and get a more intimate frame.
I had originally decided to shoot some film this day but unfortunately broke the film winder on my Gaeorsi 612 camera in the process. If anyone knows anyone who still sells replacement parts for these cameras, I would be much appreciated. Thankfully, my D800 was in my bag and was able to finish shooting digitally.
I've shot hayden falls several times. I used to work right down the street so I'd stop by whenever we got a good rain. It's rather unfortunate that they built the big stairs and the ugly boardwalk... you used to have to pretty much climb down the hill to get back there and there wasn't anything getting in your way to shoot the falls.
