those are great, but to me the hawk is the best of this really great set...i give you credit for handholding the 600vr, i have a 500vr and that's about the limits for what i want to handhold. just out of curiousity, what focus settings were you using with the d4? it's getting to be raptor shooting season out here and i can't wait to get my d4 out there!
I appreciate the nice comment. I keep switching the settings, going between the 9-point and 51-point depending on which angles I shoot from. For the Hawk shot, I moved to just center point and AF-S.
Wow! I am impressed with the sharpness handheld. I've had some marginal luck hand holding. Are these with VR turned on? I have a very similar setup as you, but the D3. The 600 VR is my new toy I just got last month, and I am finding the hand-holding manageable, but indeed difficult. I just need to get out and practice more.
Also, as far as lugging it around, are you using the Nikon supplied shoulder strap for the 600? That's how I'm carrying mine around on short hikes handheld, but was wondering if there is a better way to carry this for perhaps a quicker draw when the wildlife moment strikes..
I'd say the test run was a complete success Andy... super sharp detail and wonderful bokeh from your killer combo.
#2 shows the amazing dynamic range of the D4 and tack sharp detail of the 600.
Well done. Do you use Capture NX2 for processing?
