It has been a really long time since I have posted in here.
I shot the CHL Subway Series last night in Sarnia, On for the HHOF.
I shot with the 5D MkIII and pushed the ISO to 12800 for sh!ts + giggles.
It was cool though, shutter speeds of 1/4000th (yes four thousand)! in an available light rink.
The pics came out really well, colors were great and noise was perfect.
I felt like being a little nostalgic though and did a b+w convert.
Anyways, here's a few of my faves, enjoy.....and c+c is always welcome.
I personally like the diversity of the images and they work nicely in B/W,Ive always felt however, that colour is what makes Hockey the sport it is,and was wondering what these looked like in colour ?
Rick: Really nice. Lots of different glass and angles made it really interesting. 1, 3, 7, 9 & 11 are my fav's. Were you shooting through the glass? Do you use anything to minimize the reflection? Thanks for posting. You really help push the limits for hockey on the forum.
Really nice series that tells the story of the game. I can appreciate how much you moved around to get all these perspectives. I like the slow shutter shots during the warm-up a lot and love the action in the corners.
RD... just gotta say... you still got it man. Awesome to see you around posting up some work. Cool game to shoot too. The creative touch you have in shots like 2, 3 and 13 sets your work apart (damn, how cool is #2 anyway)... also what makes you a great wedding shooter too... but I digress.
Great to see you around, and always love your hockey work mister. CHEERS.
It's amazing that these were through the glass! I do part time work in the GTA in various arenas for kids hockey tournaments, and its rare that I find clean enough glass to shoot through. I lose so much clarity.
I really like all the shots and perspectives. You clearly had fun with this!
As fast as the puck flies, I don't see how anyone gets a shot like #7. Great capture.
Since the NHL isn't playing, I had to get my hockey fix last week at an ECHL game while visiting family in Colorado. With 140 minutes in penalties (!!!), there was more fighting than hockey.
It is so good to see all the different player expression and body language. The #7 goalie, you can see his heart stop as the puck lands. Great action photos.
