Looking for opinions regarding updating my flash unit.
I recently purchased a 5D3 to go along with my 1dMKII. My flash is a 580EX. Never upgraded to the 580EX II since the 1dMKII doesn't make use of much of the added capability. Now that I have the 5D3 I'm wondering if it might be time to add a new flash to my kit.
I am not sure that if you get the rt it will control the old one via radio. If that's what you mean.
Allegedly af performance is improved with the 1dx/5d3 when using the new speed lights that make use of the new af point array.

Low light AF works better with a 600EX-RT on my 1DX than a 580EX or 580EX II. Also, the 600EX-RT goes to 200mm focal length, which may be useful or not, depending on what you do.
