I have always struggled with the software/computer side of digital photography, as the very basic nature of my post illustrates!
I have Lightroom 3 on a Mac - purchased directly from Adobe. At B&H Photo (Nov 11, 2011) I can purchase Lightroom 4 for $69.95. The only reason I am going to LR 4 is for the RAW support for my little Sony RX100 camera.
I believe there are several "versons?" of LR 4 - such as 4, 4.1, 4.2 - so essentially my questions is if I buy LR 4 from B&H will it be the latest version that supports the Sony Rx100? I can buy the latest version of LR 4 from Adobe for about $15. more than from B&H (shipping & taxes + a little higher cost from Adobe). $15. isn't really that much money so.....
what's the verdict? I don't qualify for any student/educational discounts.
Keep in mind, though, that LR4 is a significant upgrade from LR3. There are lots of new features. Definitely worth a serious look at upgrading as opposed to remaining with LR3.
I love LR 3...but LR4 is even better. I was worried about reports of speed problems, but I haven't experienced any on my 4 yr old custom build. Worth the upgrade for sure.
