D600 with Nikon 70-200 2.8. In the middle of a shoot and NO autofocus. Turned camera on and off, changed from autofocus to manual and back several times on body as well as on lens. NOTHING. Changed to 24-70 lens and autofocus is fine. Put 70-200 on D700 and autofocus is fine................what gives??/
did you try mounting/unmounting the lens? there could have been some gunk on the electrical contacts. I find that the tolerances built into the lens mount specifications occasionally allow for lenses to jiggle around enough to interrupt or otherwise throw off the communication between body and lens.
My neighbor's 2 week old D600 also stopped autofocusing. We tried multiple lenses without success so he sent it back to the dealer. Dealer also had no success and replaced the camera.
We hope these are isolated incidents and not a new production problem.
I'd call APS and see what they would charge before I shipped it off to Nikon. You'd probably even get it back faster from them Hope your luck with camera equipment changes.

I just took a bunch of shots w/my 70-200 and have found the single point focus is off...I'm still evaluating if it's my error or the D600.
Please update on your/Nikons findings...

APS is in Morton Grove, Illinois, their web site is http:/www.nikoncamerarepair.com
They do great work and quickly.
thanks, called them, they do a clean and check starting at $15-$45. thats a little less than Nikon's $400. I should have just sent it there. thanks for the help, Mike
ps the most expensive repair( a new motor) is around $500.
Mike, have you thoroughly cleaned the contacts You'd be surprised all the crap that comes off 'em straight out of the box
Took a Q-tip to my buddy's D600 (~500 clicks) A little CRC QD Contact Cleaner and both tips were black when I was done
You pick a direction and do multiple passes until clean. It sucks one has to go thru this with a new body/lens but I'd sure
give it a go before sending it in. HTH, Will
