Do you need an adapter to use the Panalecia 25 1.4 on the OMD? New to the m4/3 system.

Just be careful and make sure you get the (less expensive) Micro 4/3 mount Panaleica 25/1.4. There is a 4/3 mount Panaleica 25/1.4, which is also quite good, but more expensive, larger and WOULD require an adapter.

I guess you mean the DG Summilux ASPH, not the D Summilux ASPH? Summilux just means f/1.4, and almost all recent Leica lens designs have aspherical elements, including both the 4/3 and Micro-4/3 designs.

That one is Micro Four Thirds and works directly on the Olympus OM-D E-M5.

Interestingly some people consider the older bigger version to be superior. But I bet it focuses slowly on MfT if at all.

There is more glass in the older one and it covers the same sensor size. Not that I would ever trade mine.

Most tests I've seen show the m4/3 version to be the better lens. It's certainly much smaller too (the 4/3 version is frankly huge).
