Make sure you confirm the gamut these monitors cover and thus how they will affect your ability to edit photos. Plan on buying or borrowing a hardware calibration system.

I recently bought a U2410 and it's a fantastic monitor. With the Spyder4 I've been able to calibrate it to 99% of AdobeRGB. I have heard and read great things about the Asus PA246Q, and it can calibrate to a wider gamut than AdobeRGB, but because I run dual monitors I wasn't too keen on the bezel styling (especially the red line across the bottom). Definitely be careful with the Dell U2412M, as most things I have read indicate that it is not quite the monitor the U2410 is.

I think this is what i'm gonna do... i really have to brush up on my calibration equipment/software.
I know the U2410 comes calibrated from the factory, but i assume it still has plenty of room for improvement?
We get U2412's at work. They are decent, but cheap. I am also in the market for a new screen, but i'm debating a NEC P241 over a U2410. My 2209WA has not lasted as well as i think it should, and i read that the U2410 can have QC issues - some have a green-magenta cast from side to side that Dell refuse to accept as a warranty problem.
The Dell U2410 is very, very good IPS monitor, and a steal for the price. Yes, you will need to calibrate and profile this monitor (i1Display Pro or similar for wide gamut displays).
It's main weakness is uniformity of color across the display.
Dell sells it with a factory calibration that's fairly useless for photographers - although its at least something for another user type.

The Dustin shop in Sweden have a great price on the U2711 this weekend if you like to have that one. I just bought one from them as my second monitor. I already have one U2711. They cost 4990 Swedish kr this weekend including 25 %VAT.

Thanks Lars - they have it at the same in NOK also. I actually just ordered a U2410 from there about 10 mins ago. I don't have space for a 27 inch at the moment unfortunately. I don't really have space for a 24 inch in truth, but my 2209 is dying and no-one seems to make a decent 22 inch any more.
the Dell Outlet has the U2410 for $365 refurbished right now. If cash flow wasn't such a huge problem for me at this moment I'd have already placed my order.
