Manny,
Just keep in mind that it's not tight just for the sake of being tight, but for the sake of bringing the viewer closer to the key action and removing distractions from the frame. Some of your images are wide and appropriately so given what is included in the frame. Others, particularly those Rick has cropped, are wide with no obvious reason for being so given that the other elements included in the frame were not adding anything of value to the image. Assuming you have the proper lenses for the job, some of this can be taken care of at the time the images are created. Beyond that, it's between your eye and the cropping tool. ...Show more →
Thanks Russ. I will continue to work on it, practice will help. I am getting alot more comfy shooting tighter and selecting the key elements and composition, but the world is quite different at 300 than 200mm. I appreciate your comments as always. I wish the season lasted another month or so to keep working on it.
I'm definitely looking forward to basketball season (hopefully works out) to continue working on these processes. Maybe even recreational lacrosse.

Mako, you're getting great advice from way-better photographers than I am, so I won't add to thier C&C, but I will say that you dead-nuts nailed the focus on a lot of these (with black uni's at night!), and caught some great action, which is most of the battle. Keep it up, and I'm looking forward to your hoops shots.
