p.1 #1 · Do you leave your vertical grip in the "on" position?
Hello all.. I was curious if you leave you vertical grips on even while your body is powered off? I assume it's not pulling any power because my top LCD shuts off when the body is powered off, even if the grip stays in the on position.

always left mine on with no problems but now turn them off till needed, with camera slung over my shoulder i was always getting pictures of the ground as the swinging camera banging against my hip as i walked would trigger the shutter

Mine actually has no batteries in it but still works off the body power. I only put batteries in it when I need an FPS boost so it's nice and light and I get the vertical buttons. That said I do leave it on all the time.

The MB-D80 requires the battery be used in the vertical grip. I think the 5100 grip is the same way.

All my grips always stay on the cameras. In the past there was no need to even remove them once, with the new "improved" designs, you always need to remove them to change the batteries. What a ridiculous step backwards (I guess product managers and engineers never use their products) !
