p.1 #3 · Thread to talk about various year-end camera awards
Considering how often cameras are exchanged for newer ones, I personally find the year's best camera-type of lists totally uninteresting. What about one for lenses?

What would a camera getting an award or not getting an award have to do with me or my photography ?
I could see how maybe the folks in the R&D dept, or more likely the marketing dept of a given brand might have some interest in if a random publication gives them an award (thought I'm sure the bottom line sales figures are what really matters) but for the end user, whats the point ?
Lets say I'm a NEX uses and instead the Fuji's beat it out for "best camera of the year". So what ?
Do I stop enjoying my gear ? OR.... Lets say I am a NEX shooter and it wins. then what ?
So I make a little trophy decal and stick it onto my camera so everyone can see when I'm out shooting that I've got an award winning camera ??
Not that I'm an award winning photographer mind you, simply that I happened to buy a piece of equipment that some other people thought was good.
To people in other hobbies really treat their tools in this way ?
Any construction workers holding a ceremony for the best flat head screwdriver or cordless drill of the year ?
See any chef's out there talking about the best ingredient of the year or the oven of the year ??
Granted of course that fueled by internet forums and fanboyism, photographers, or should I shall, camera buyers, do no doubt put a lot of emphasis on such awards.
I'm sure whatever does come out #1 on the list is then going to have fanboys from that respective brand going over to the #2 brands forum on DPR and gloating, and fanboys from the #2 brand posting threads about how they were "robbed". Pathetic as it sounds we've all seen it with our own eyes.
Classic line of "Honey are you coming to bed?"......" Just a minute dear, someone on the internet is wrong (about a personal buying decision of a consumer electronics product)" lol

Hasselblad Lunar award:
"We still dont get it."
Otherwise those awards sometimes seems to be made on spot, so camera could get at least one award. Tho its been nice year in camera world, quite a bit of interesting things I wont own in next few years.
