Please forgive my ignorance, but can't you just go to NJ and not pay sales tax? I live in Portland (OR) and have no sales tax. I know that people from Vancouver (and probably Idaho/NV/Cal as well) cross the bridge and make purchases here and not pay sales tax...
Oregon has no sales tax, but New Jersey does. The no sales tax only applies when you order something from a store in one state and have it shipped to an address in another state that has no front store.

Over the counter sales and mail order are different. It depends where it's shipped to as to the sales tax being applied or not.
As an Englishman living in America this was bizarre to me at first as VAT in Europe works differently. But it means that for me B and H is mainly a showroom and orders go elsewhere.

It's been discussed somewhere before that it's been understood that Canon USA only provides warranty service for Canon products from authorized dealers only. However, the warranty enclosure also implies that, as long as you have a USA warranty card for that product with matching serial number, they will provide warranty service.
With MAP policy, I'm not sure if we will see this price from an authorized dealer anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong though as I prefer Canon because I can get their gear at much lower prices from retail prices.
