Just wondering how the value of a 5d2 body is affected when it has had a new shutter and mirror installed? The body had 350K actuations when the shutter and mirror were replaced and since has only taken about 1000. Is there a high risk of something else failing? If sold, should this body fetch more or less than the going price? Body looks great without any marks or scuffs. Curious what others have to say.
My 2 cents is that it is still a high use camera. It is the same as replacing the engine and transmission in a car. The shutter button, doors, card carrier, switches, etc all have additional usage. Also, there is more chances that hidden damage such as drops and bumps that did not mar the finish have occurred. So I would expect a slightly lower price on the camera.
That's some great mileage on a 5D2 nonetheless. The price will certainly be affected by high use but it's still a fairly valuable camera. If you plan on selling it just remember, the price is going to be steadily going down over the next few months until the 6D is out. They have already fallen a few hundred dollars used since August.
People automatically think there's a problem with the camera if the shutter's been replaced. Even if the work was done by Canon. I know because I've sold cameras with replaced shutters. What I'd pay attention to is use before shutter replacement. I'd personally rather have a used camera with a brand new shutter than not, but 350,000 actuations is pretty darn high considering there's other items to wear out on a camera. But I'd rather have a used camera with new shutter that had 50,000 cycles vs one without a new shutter at 35,000 cycles. Canon replaced one of the shutters on my 5D's for no reason other than high shutter count (it had not gone out). The thing probably has another 250,000 shots left in her before another shutter replacement.

I would say with 351,000 clicks it should fetch less than the "going price"
