It is a nice nifty little thing. I can have my kids use it and not worry about it. I paid $199 with a 20% eBay Bucks in 3months = $159. I could have bought it for less if I waited.
Well I am not worried…but should have known good things come your way if you're patient.

No regrets at all over purchase of 40mm F2.8 lens with Canon lens hood
it is a pleasure to use due to light weight and the image quality is very nice
focus has been reliable -- firmware update was easy
Canon should produce more of these quality affordable lenses

I just got mine in the mail and tested it against my 24-70 and Rokinon 35mm. Center sharpness at 2.8 I probably say 40mm is best and 35mm 2nd. Edge sharpness I give the 35mm sharpest at 2.8 and other apertures with 40mm 2nd and 24-70 3rd mostly due to the blurred corners that show up on many of their lenses. Bokeh is about equal with an edge going to the Rokinon. just thought I'd share what I found. Great lens for the $. Don't know if I'll get used to the power focus though.

I was in Frys and picked up a T2I body on clearance (the bare display body for $200), so I ordered a 40mm Pancake on Amazon for $150 to go with it.
I compared the T2I with a nifty fifty to my NEX 5N with NEX 50 1.8 IS lens for physical size and weight and there really wasn't that much difference. The 5N has great quality, but I've decided to stick to, one camera line (Canon) and one learning curve. The T2I and 40mm Pancake will now be my compact kit when I want to travel light and the NEX system will go to the Buy and Sell forum.
